Inkslinger’21 is an online inter-college art competition running through July
Escalada, the literary and arts society of KIIT School of Biotechnology (KSBT) Bhubaneswar, is hosting the inter-college art competition Inkslinger’21 through the month of July.
The event drew a huge response from students last year and that’s why Escalada is conducting it this year too. Students of Loreto College, Maulana Azad College and Bidhannagar College from Kolkata are participating in this edition.
“This competition allows me the opportunity to show my creative side to the world,” said Anuprita Ray, a fifth-year MTech student of KSBT who has been participating in the event since last year.
For Inkslinger, Escalada releases a set of artistic prompts as special themes and encourages students to submit written words, artworks or photographs based on those.
One artistic prompt is being released each day of July on Escalada’s Instagram and Facebook pages. However, the entire list was shared with participants at the start of the month so that they could prepare.
The submitted works are published as posts or stories on Escalada’s Instagram page. You can check the works at https://www.instagram.com/escalada_ksbt/.
The artistic prompts this year range from words as simple as ‘yellow’ to something more poetic like ‘afsana’ and even some slightly quirky ones such as ‘frog’.
“Participation varies with the kind of prompts we release. We may get a fair number of entries against simpler prompts like ‘passenger’. But slightly more complex words like ‘indigenous’ are likely to fetch fewer entries than usual,” said Suchetana Das, a fourth-year student of KSBT and co-coordinator of Inkslinger’21.
Escalada has a team of 30 students of KSBT. This year, Escalada will award prizes to the best entries. These entries will be selected through voting by Escalada members and KSBT faculty members.
“Now that prizes are in the mix, I’m even more motivated to send in my artworks,” said Niladri Krishna Roy, a fourth- year student of KSBT.
