Yamuna Menon sets a record as the highest medal winner at top law school
Not two or three, Yamuna Menon took home 18 gold medals while graduating with a BA LLB (Hons) degree from National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru, setting a record as the varsity’s highest medal winner ever.
Yamuna was awarded her prizes at the 28th Annual Convocation of NLSIU held virtually on September 27. There were 48 medals to be won, of which the remaining 30 were shared between 20 other students.
A total of 576 students graduated in various programmes this year from NLSIU, one of India’s top law schools.
A statement issued by NLSIU listed the categories on which Yamuna stamped her gold signature:

· Outstanding graduating student
· Overall topper
· Best outgoing student
· Best outgoing undergraduate student
· Best outgoing female student
· Business and Corporate Laws
· Torts Law
· Public Law
· Contracts Law
· Criminal Law
· Transfer of Property Laws
· Highest marks in Banking Law
· Best all-round graduating student
· Most deserving female student
· Two medals in Constitutional Law
The girl from Ernakulam in Kerala had ranked 28th in CLAT-2015. Her past achievements include being the editor-in-chief of the Indian Journal of International Economic Law.
Next up for Yamuna is a master’s programme in law on a scholarship from Trinity College, Cambridge.
