20-25 staff members test positive for COVID-19
The Central University of Gujarat has announced that its campus and hostels will remain closed from April 12 to 16 and classes will continue online in the interim.
The varsity said that the situation will be reviewed again after this period and further decisions will be taken accordingly. Hostellers have also been asked to go home, as about 20-25 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. Non-teaching staff will also be operating online.
The university added that in case of any requirement, staff members might be asked to come to the campus following precautionary measures. However, essential services such as hostel administration, maintenance section and health centre related activities will continue as usual.
An official notice has asked all teaching and non-teaching staff to follow the guidelines issued by the government, Union ministry of education and University Grants Commission, along with the periodical circulars issued by the varsity. Deans have also been requested to ensure strict compliance with safety precautions.
