Board announcement follows student demand for cancellation of exams
Class X and XII board exams will be conducted as per the schedule from May 4, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) said in a statement on April 8. The statement was jointly released with the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE).
The announcement came amid requests made by students, teachers and parents to cancel the Board exams due to rise in COVID-19 cases. Around one-lakh students have signed an online petition seeking cancellation of the exams, according to reports.
COVID-19 guidelines will be followed and exam centres have been increased across the country to ensure social distancing among students, said the notice.
