OAVs were conceptualised and developed by Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik back in 2015 under the Societies Registration Act. Patnaik wanted to build English medium Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools in each block of the state for quality education. As many as 30 OAVs have been launched by the government in the last five years.
In the past few months, the Odisha government collaborated with Unicef to establish a career portal for students. Three new medical colleges at Talcher, Sundergarh and Puri have also been set up.
