COVID-19 vaccination carried out at IIT Kanpur health centre

IIT Kanpur held a COVID-19 vaccination drive on campus for health workers of the institute.

The vaccination session was inaugurated by Kanpur Nagar district magistrate and IIT-K alumnus Alok Tiwari and IIT Kanpur Abhay Karandikar in the presence Kanpur CMO A.K. Mishra, IIT Kanpur dean (administration) Onkar Dikshit and IIT Kanpur health centre head Mamta Vyas.

A total of 92 staff members of the health centre, along with doctors, had registered on the CO-WIN App. for vaccination.  All of them received vaccines and were kept under observation for 30 minutes. 

“We are happy to inform that no side effects were observed and all health workers got busy with their daily work soon after taking the vaccine,” according to an IIT Kanpur press statement.

The statement urged everyone to have faith in all scientists and the vaccine.

“The first shots of COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to the health workers at the institute. Being a part of one of the largest vaccination drives, I am confident that India is on the right progress path and in the near future we will collectively overcome this adversity with triumph,” IIT Kanpur director Abhay Karandikar said.

“The health Centre at IIT Kanpur is a primary health centre. It is proud to have provided normal services to the campus community during the entire pandemic without a break of a single day. During this period, some of the doctors and staff members of the health centre were got infected. However, the health centre continued to provide services,” Karandikar said.

The vaccination drive, according to IIT Kanpur, will enable the health centre to further provide services without any fear and apprehension in future.
