The university informed the Delhi High Court that the candidates have to register on digicerti.du.ac.in for digital degrees
The University of Delhi (DU) has launched an online portal for students to collect digital versions of degrees. This is especially for those who did not get a degree while graduating till last year. In this regard, the university told the Delhi High Court that the candidates have to register on digicerti.du.ac.in, and provide details, including their academic qualifications, name of college, following which the digital degree certificates will be issued by DU within a week.
A petition was filed before Justice Prathiba M Singh by 21 doctors with MBBS graduation from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Maulana Azad Medical College and University College of Medical Sciences, affiliated with DU. But till date, they haven’t received their degree certificates. Regarding these petitioners, the court directed that digital degree certificates for all of them must be submitted before August 13, so that they can sit for the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) in the United States.
“The court has perused the digital degree certificate, which has been sent by e-mail and the court is satisfied with the contents of the same. The issuance of similar digital degree certificates duly verified by two officials of the DU and digitally signed by the authorised officer of the DU would in the court’s opinion, satisfy the purpose of the petitioners,” Justice Pratibha Singh said.
The court asked DU authorities to investigate the digital issuance of students' mark sheets and transcripts.
The court noted that DU is working out modalities with the officials of Digilocker to transmit all the data relating to degrees awarded by it to Digilocker within a time bound manner. The court praised the efforts of Digiolcar and DU authorities.
It further said that students who need a digital degree certificate due to any urgent deadline and DU authorities must ensure that their digital degree certificate has been issued within one week of registration.
