IIT Kanpur has been lauded for its Special Interest Group on Machine Learning (SIGML) —an endeavour to bring together people who share an excitement in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, NLP and Data Mining to discuss latest developments and research options.
The forum at IIT Kanpur consisting of researchers, practitioners and students encourages research in emerging areas related to Machine Learning.
IIT Kanpur, in collaboration with the education ministry and iSMRITI, India's leading AI company, is also conducting training courses for undergraduate students on introduction to AI, IoT and robotics to provide hands on experience to orient students towards the present industrial scenario.
The Vision and Learning Research Group (VLRG) at ISI Kolkata was set up in 2011 to conduct fundamental and advanced research in the area of computer vision, image processing, pattern recognition and machine learning. The research group has published several papers in IEEE, ISMM, ICIP and ISVC, especially in areas like image and video processing, image reconstruction and image and pattern recognition.
The Electronics & ICT Academy (E&ICT) at IIT Roorkee, under the aegis of electronics & IT ministry, has a specific purpose of training of professionals and academicians in the emerging technologies in the Electronics and ICT domain, including AI, ML and NLP. It also has industry collaborations for conducting training programmes and research.
NIT Warangal has established a Mini Centre of Excellence for Big Data, a high- end lab in CSE department, which offers course and research opportunities in data science and analytics. The Electronics and ICT Academy (E&ICT) at NIT Warangal, established under the aegis of electronics & IT ministry, is a central hub of activities on training, consultancy work and entrepreneurship programmes in emerging technologies.
The department of artificial intelligence at IIT Hyderabad has been chosen for its mission to produce students with a sound understanding of the fundamentals of the theory and practice of AI and ML. It also aims to enable students to become leaders in the industry and academia nationally and internationally.
