The Union Minister also mentioned that there is a requirement for setting up a second Central University in Odisha
In view of the long-standing demands for granting a Central University status to the Utkal University in Bhubaneswar, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has written to Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, asking him to intervene in the matter.
Granting Utkal University the status of Central University will cater to the needs of students, generate potential for employment, build industry-academia interface and increase advanced research in the region, wrote Pradhan in the letter.
He further mentioned that there is a requirement for setting up a second Central University in Odisha, especially in Bhubaneshwar as it is evolving as an economic and education hub in eastern India.
