7 students bag offers as high as 45 lakh per annum
The first phase of the 2020-21 placement drive at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar has fetched job offers for 32 per cent of the entire batch in three days. Seven BTech students from the electrical engineering department have bagged offers as high as 45 lakh per annum.
“So far 32 per cent students have been placed in a matter of few days. This national institute witnessed a very good start to placement season 2020-21 with 88 offers from reputed companies,” IIT Bhubaneswar said in a media statement.
Despite the pandemic, the domestic placement offers managed to surpass that of the previous year. The total number of international offers received so far is, however, lower than last year’s figures.
The highest number of job offers came from core industries. MNCs like Goldman Sachs, GE India, Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Honeywell, TCS R & D, Amazon, Code Nation, Optum and Adobe took part in the placement drive along with PSUs like ISRO, IOCL and NCCBM.
The average salary offered is likely to be around Rs 15-16 lakh per annum, the same as last year.
