Centre to focus on animation, visual effects, gaming and comics
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) and the Union ministry of information and broadcasting (MIB) will jointly set up a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in gaming and animation.
The CoE will come into effect as the new academic session begins in 2021 and will focus on animation, visual effects, gaming and comics.
Striving to develop gaming applications in line with traditional Indian values, heritage and ethos, the CoE will shun violence and other forms of explicit content that form the cornerstones of the gaming industry.
“India will create our own games and apps in line with #MakeInIndia for the world so that these are adopted by the world over for their basic values that are an integral part of our Indian ethos,” said Union information and broadcasting minister Prakash Javadekar.
