Institute to offer BTechs in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Industrial Chemistry and Computational Engineering
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad has introduced three new Bachelor in Technology (BTech) courses in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Industrial Chemistry and Computational Engineering from October this year.
These BTech courses will allow students to study core science subjects such as Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics in the first two semesters. Apart from the special BTech curriculum, students will be able to take up elective courses from other departments in order to gain more knowledge about their subject.
They can also pursue a minor in other areas of interest. For instance, students can minor in computer science and entrepreneurship among other subjects after completing 12 additional credits in the elective subject.
Students can choose semester-long projects in the sixth semester, which will provide an opportunity for them to learn and gain work experience in Biotech, Pharma, Information Technology, Data Analysis and Chem Informatics among others.
The BTech courses being introduced this month will be designed specially to comply with both the current and future needs of the industry. After completing BTech, students will have ample opportunity to pursue higher studies or go for research in both national and international universities.
The students who pursue BTech in Computational Engineering will be receiving interdisciplinary education. Additionally, they will build expertise in numerical methods and algorithms, high-performance computing, modelling and simulations of engineering systems and processes, process control and optimization, Data Analytics and machine learning.
