Virtual meet marks World Mental Health Day
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, observed World Mental Health Day by organising an interactive session with Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya.
The session focused on the significance of mental health and its impact on the physical and social wellbeing of humans.
Abhishek Kumar, general secretary, Wellness Centre, opened the session with a video clip of Dahiya in the Olympic semi-final.
Kumar stressed the need to be more open about mental health issues and de-stigmatise the same. He said that one should not hesitate to seek medical help if needed.
He also mentioned the exceptional work done by the Wellness Centre, ensuring the availability of mental health counsellors on campus round the clock. Students can approach the counsellors and discuss their mental health and anxiety issues. He stressed the need to pay more attention to mental health.
