Farewell videos for and by graduating students are becoming a thing in the tech and biz schools
Young girls and boys all suited up and rocking it to Bollywood chartbusters, or recreating classroom moments with a dash of fun. Graduating batches of IIT and IIM bid farewell to their institutes with snazzy videos that are now trending.
We picked a few that best captured the essence of life on campus.
IIM Indore – Class of 2020 Farewell Video
Released during the lockdown, this video pays tribute to a batch that faced far greater challenges than exams and placements. The students shaking a leg to Ritviz’s Liggi in every nook and corner of the sprawling campus have already notched up close to 300,000 views. Impossible not to join in!
IIT Delhi – EE Batch of 2019 Farewell Video
Yet another one of Ritviz’s hits, Jeet, lends the perfect backdrop to this suave-yet-wacky video featuring engineers going the extra mile. Decked out in suits and shades, the students manage to capture all the moods of college life, from conference rooms to auditoriums, even managing to throw a moonwalk into the mix.
IIT Roorkee – Class Song 2019
A goodbye video that doesn’t dwell on the goodbyes, students of IIT Roorkee give the batch of 2019 a proper send-off with this sleekly shot, edited and choreographed piece that touches upon all that happens on campus, as a student prepares to move on. The song: Sooraj ki baahon mein.
IIM Udaipur – Welcoming Class of 2021
MBA students are known to be able to adapt to changing situations and this video demonstrates it best with the Class of 2021 being welcomed virtually in a nod to Prateek Kuhad’s Kasoor. Replacing the reactions on heartbreak and love with new, more comical ones on admission and placements, the video is a reminder of how despite things slowing down, life hasn’t come to a standstill.
