The Pro-Vice Chancellor of JU told ABP Education that work on results publication will go on according to their previous commitment. The results for all streams are expected to be declared by July 31.
An employee of the Jadavpur University’s Research Section tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, prompting the varsity to shut all departments till July 12, except emergency services, according to a notice undersigned by the Registrar.
The official notice reads, “It is notified for information of all concerned that one of the staff of the Research Section has been infected by Noval Corona Virus (COVID-19). For safety & security of all the staff and to ensure safety of full community, the sanitization of the whole building of Aurobindo Bhawan will be done by Calcutta Corporation with immediate effect. All the Departments, Sections, Units, except emergency services will remain closed till 12th of July, 2020 for the above purpose.”
However, this unfortunate development will not serve as a hurdle for the varsity when it comes to declaring the results.
The Jadavpur University Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr Chiranjib Bhattarcharjee, in a chat with ABPEducation said, “The Controller of Examinations is housed in the Aurobindo Bhawan, the administrative building. This time we have already taken the exam in distance mode. Now the evaluation process is going on. Once it is done, the teachers will upload the marks in Jadavpur University Management System, the managers of which work from a different location. They are not at the administrative building. So the work will go on as per our previous commitment.” The Jadavpur University results are expected to be out on July 31.
According to an official, the employee who tested positive on Sunday had last attended office last Thursday, returning home with a fever. His swab tests were received by the MR Bangur Hospital on Friday.
