Initiative taken with an aim to strengthen digital education along the lines of NEP-2020
As part of the celebrations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday, 1,000 tabs and 350 laptops were handed over to government schools and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) schools at the Malleshwaram constituency in Karnataka on September 17. The initiative was taken to strengthen digital education along the lines of the National Education Policy (NEP-2020).
In the constituency represented by CN Ashwatha Narayana, the minister of higher education, the day also witnessed activities including books distribution, smart boards launching, and inauguration of the Prerana App which facilitates the teaching-learning process.
Speaking on the occasion, Narayana, said, “We are fortunate to have a leader like Narendra Modi who is leading the country by giving suitable prominence to all the sectors including education and technology.”
The Prime Minister has brought in the National Education Policy with the aim of making India ‘vishwaguru’ in the coming years, he noted.
Tablets were mainly given for high school students and laptops are meant to be used by primary school students (one laptop for every five students).
The minister also expressed thanks to the organisations and institutions who have contributed the equipment for the cause of education.
