Rapid antigen tests to be conducted among students
Schools for classes X and XII are set to reopen in Mizoram from January 22. This decision was taken to help students prepare for the board exams in April.
A meeting, headed by the state health minister, R Lalthangliana, and attended by several doctors and civil society groups, decided to reopen schools and churches after a long hiatus.
Existing standard operating procedures will be followed to maintain social distancing and safety against Covid-19. Students will also be allowed to stay in hostels. Authorities have decided to conduct rapid antigen tests among students before letting them resume normal classes.
No notice has been issued for the reopening of other classes. In the last month, Mizoram’s Covid-19 curve witnessed a downward trend with only 264 cases reported.
