Gap bridged between weavers and customers
Three NIT (National Institute of Technology) Warangal graduates have created an online platform for weavers.
NIT (National Institute of Technology) Warangal graduates have launched an e-commerce platform named 'Pickkmycloth'.
Pickkmycloth, the e-commerce site, is aimed at eliminating middlemen and bridging the gap between weavers and customers.
Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank took to Twitter to praise the effort. “@warangal_nit has launched an e-commerce platform, 'PickmyCloth' to help weavers sell their products directly to customers. This will eliminate middlemen & help Indian weavers maximise their revenue. Great step for making Indian weavers #Aatmanirbhar!”

As soon as an order is placed on the portal, the weaver gets a notification. He then packs the product, labels it and dispatches it. Seven hundred weavers have been registered on the platform, 400 of them are active now.
Pickmycloth is the brainchild of three friends — Ram Kalyan, Dinesh and Abhishek — who met a lot of weavers during their NIT days and learnt about their hardships. After graduating from the institute, they continued to mingle with more weavers to come up with a solution.
The newly launched platform will ensure that weavers get a fair price for their products and customers, too, get a good bargain. "Handloom products are unique and limited, once the stock gets over, we cannot get them again. So, for these products to be sold, there must not be any middlemen and the profit must be enjoyed by weavers only,” Kalyan said.
Pickmycloth has a specially appointed team for every cluster to make weavers aware of the initiative.
