Attendance not compulsory, online classes to continue
Public universities, government and private colleges in Odisha will reopen on September 20 for first-year undergraduate students only.
The Odisha government has issued strict COVID-safety guidelines colleges and universities. Everyone must wear masks and use sanitisers. Social distancing must be maintained. Students, teachers and staff living in containment zones will not be allowed on the campus. Hostels will also reopen.
According to the state government order, colleges and universities will be reopened as there is “improvement in COVID-19 situation in the state”.
Classrooms, halls and other closed spaces must be regularly sanitised. Classes will have to be divided into smaller batches and shifts depending on the student count. Teaching hours can be extended to accommodate smaller batches.
In case of any emergency, an isolation room has to be made available in all schools and colleges.
Attendance is not compulsory for students and online classes will also be held regularly like before.
