Pratibha had earlier joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). And now clearing the UPSC exams has left her speechless.
Pratibha Verma from Uttar Pradesh is the top-ranked woman in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) 2019 exams results announced earlier today. Overall, she ranked third as Pradeep Singh and Jatin Kishore ranked first and second, respectively. Pratibha had earlier joined the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). She always dreamed of becoming an IAS officer since childhood. “This is amazing and left me speechless. I just could not believe it when I checked UPSC result this afternoon,” she said.
She added, “I was inspired by the way IAS officers act as the first responder at the time of any crisis. They are always on the frontline at the time of difficult situations. That is why I decided to prepare again for the exam (after getting selected in the IRS).”
A native of Sultanpur, Pratibha said she is super excited. Speaking about this long journey, she said her parents were her biggest support system. Talking about her future plans in the administrative field, Pratibha said she wants to work on women's empowerment and child-related issues, especially in her home state of Uttar Pradesh.
Preliminary examinations of UPSC Civil Services 2019 were held in September 2019, main examination and interview was held between February to August 2020. Candidates' mark sheets will be available 15 days after the date of announcement of results.
