Full scholarship for top five NEET candidates to seek admission to the Pune institute
Symbiosis International University (SIU), Pune, has set up a dedicated college for women with Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW).
The initiative is aimed at contributing more women doctors to society.
“Setting up Symbiosis Medical College for Women has been one of our greatest milestones. High-quality medical education is a powerful tool in establishing a strong healthcare system and we are glad to have done our bit. The idea of launching an exclusive medical college was deeply inspired by the biopic about Dr. Anandibai Joshi, one of the earliest women doctors in India,” said Prof Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, the founder and chancellor of Symbiosis International University.
Kadambini Ganguly of West Bengal was also among the country’s first women doctors.
SMCW has also announced a scholarship programme named Dr. Anandi Gopal Scholarship Scheme to help meritorious girls financially. This scholarship will award a 100 per cent academic fee waiver to the top 5 girls who cleared NEET and wish to get admission at SMCW.
