As many as 1,68,252 girl students to benefit
The Tripura government has approved a proposal to provide free sanitary napkins to all girl students from classes VI to XII, the state education minister Ratanlal Nath said on January 20.
“To enhance female menstrual hygiene, the Tripura cabinet gave approval for providing free sanitary napkins among all school girls from classes VI to XII,” he said.
As many as 1,68,252 girl students will get free sanitary napkins under the scheme named Kishori Suchita Abhiyan. The state government will invest Rs 3,61,63,248 over a period of three years for this project.
Nath added that the state education department had also adopted the 'Policy On School Bag 2020' in accordance with the guidelines of the Union education ministry’s department of school education and literacy.
