Enrolments from India, China decline
Several Covid-induced lockdowns in France have disrupted the international student mobility in the country, said a study released by Campus France, a French public institution.
Students from Sub-Saharan Africa, the Maghreb, Europe and the Middle-East have shown particular interest to study in the country, the study said. However, the growth in the number of foreign students is slower than the world average, it added.
Campus France also asserted that the discontinued student mobility would get back on track by the end of this year.
A representative body for the country’s 227 premiere higher education institutions has welcomed the efforts made by the French government and various institutions to attract more students in the country.
Majority of candidates who took admissions have arrived and some are taking online classes while waiting for being able to take classes physically, the study added. However, it also suggested that the country is seeing a drop in enrolments from India and China.
